I would go with something lightweight that doesn't weigh your hair down too much, the heavier the product is the less volume you will have. My hair is full (lots of strands) but the strand itself is thin so my hair gets product buildup easily and it does get weighed down. My favorite products tend to have aloe vera gel or flaxseed they give me curl definition and moisture, they also are pretty lightweight. When I want a stretched style I use butters that have some weight to it, but aren't too heavy where they are weighing my hair down which is why I use my whipped shea mix because it has a high concentration of Safflower oil which is very light.

I would say a light-weight leaving in conditioner/moisturizer and then try fluffy styles rather than slicked back.

Aloe Vera Gel/ Juice is amazing. You also want to use light weight oils. I use olive oil, jojoba, grape seed, argan oil, and sweet almond oil. Those are my top 5 ( not including essential oils ). Lately, I've been using Eden Body Works products and I love it!!

Do you know what texture type your hair is? That will also determine what products will help.

I don't think so much as texture whether it is 4a,b,or c. But knowing your porosity, density, and elasticity is a god send
