definition of natural hair

Postby Koumba » Wed Jan 11, 2017 10:41 am

Hi everybody,

I have a stupid question, what is the definition of natural hair?
I understood that chemically and heat treated hair were out of this definition but what about the african braids hairstyle with hair extension?

Thanks for your answer.

Very BIG question Koumba!

For me, hair extensions would fall outside of the definition of natural hair. I understand that the objective is to derive as close a look to natural as possible but that's a texture to create that look. That's contrasting natural and artificial, as opposed to natural versus synthetic (texture again, and maybe substance too).

Your hair is still natural if you wear extensions. Since you are not chemically altering your hair it's still natural. Natural hair is hair that is in its true state, so if you are not changing the state of your hair putting weave on top of it, won't change that. If you relax, texturize, or heat damage your hair until the point that it is straightened, then your hair is not natural.
